I recently had the opportunity to work with Chevrolet. They invited us out to Six Flags Great America to spend the day, test drive some of their new vehicles and I even got to use the new 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe for a week! I currently drive a minivan which is about ten years old so for me any new car would be a vast improvement but the Chevrolet Tahoe was even better than what I had hoped for but I will admit the size of it was a bit intimidating. The Tahoe just plain old made my minivan look petite. So let’s get into my 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe review so you can see for yourself why this truck is so amazing for large families and then you can take a look at some of the other cars and see what fun we had at Six Flags with Chevy.
For our use we were given a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD LTZ to use for one week. The MSRP on the standard vehicle is $62,000 but the model we were given to use had some upgrades and came in at $70,380. Our upgraded model had a power sunroof, the MyLink Audio System complete with an 8″ color touchscreen & navigation, rear seat entertainment, running boards (power retractable), adaptive cruise control and a couple of other things.
The power sunroof was a nice touch that my family liked. Before our family got as big as it did my husband had a Chevrolet Impala with a sunroof and a Chevrolet Camaro with T-Tops so he was very pleased to have a truck big enough for our family that had that feature. The kids loved the rear seat entertainment and I was honestly jealous that I couldn’t sit back there with them. It came with a Blu-Ray player so the picture was great! I liked that if only one of the kids wanted to watch a movie and the others were playing on their tablets then there were wireless headphones to use. The truck also had a ton places to plug-in USB cables for device charging and it even had one actual power outlet. I kept joking to people that it was so cool, if I wanted to I could plug-in a toaster and make toast in the car!
My absolute favorite thing about the truck was the MyLink Audio System! When I first got in the car I was worried about driving it because it is BIG! Luckily though when I put it in reverse I immediately saw the MyLink screen change and I realized the truck had a rear camera. It showed me everything behind me and depending on which way I moved the wheel the trajectory lines would change. I have never in my life been good at backing into parking spots but with this not only was I able to do it but I was able to back in to a spot perfectly! I am still lamenting the loss of this feature since the truck went back. The other great things about the MyLink system was the XM Radio, Pandora, Bluetooth & Navigation all at the touch of a finger.
The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe was a hit with my family! It’s 355 HP and spacious interior made it a great way to travel with a big group. The rear power liftgate made loading and unloading the trunk a breeze and the second and third row fold flat seats with power-folding made loading large objects a snap. My family now knows why the Chevrolet Tahoe is the best-selling full-size SUV.
For the #Chevy6Flags event we arrived at Six Flags Great America at 8:15 and were greeted at the gate by Chevy’s PR team. We were then whisked away on golf carts to the far side of the park. There they had more cars for us to look at, learn about and test drive around the park before it even opened. We were also served breakfast and given lots of goodies to take home with us and help make our day at the park even better.
My oldest son who is starting his senior year in college and eying buying a new car post graduation had a great time learning about the different cars and taking them for a test drive.
After all of that it still was not even time for the park to open yet. That was okay though because we were treated to being able to ride the Raging Bull Roller Coaster as much as we wanted until the park opened. That was seriously fun as that is my favorite ride in the entire park. My oldest son and I rode it several times and it was fun not having to get off and wait in a long line but just getting to stay in our seats and go again. My youngest son was sad that he was a couple of inches to short to be able to ride with us but he was able to be the firs tin line for another coaster that he was tall enough for. My whole family had a ton of fun the entire day! Thanks to Chevrolet for including us in this great event!
