Fun Pokémon Lunch Box Notes

by Jennifer Wieland
Pokémon Fun Facts and Joke Lunch Box Notes
If your house is anything like mine then you have at least one kid that is Pokémon crazy right now. For me this seems like something I have been dealing with for decades. It’s possible that I should feel that way since that’s because I have hearing all about Pokémon for almost two decades. My oldest is 23 and has been a Pokémon fan since he was five. He got his first Pokémon cards and game way back in 1998 and we waited in line on a day off of school to see the first Pokémon movie the day it came out. Now it’s my three youngest who are all about the Pokémon games, cards and shows. It was because of all of this and with school just starting that I thought it would be perfect to create some fun Pokémon lunch box notes.

I know you were thinking, “Nearly two decades? Yeah, right!” As you can see though I have definitely got my moneys worth out of that GameBoy Advance SP and the original Pokémon Red game. Six kids later and it’s still working… LOL!

Pokémon Fun Facts and Joke Lunch Box Notes

Some of these Pokémon lunch box notes have fun facts for the budding Pokémon fan. While others have a silly Pokémon joke for your child to share with their friends at lunchtime to get a laugh out of everyone. All of them have Pokémon pictures and a Pokeball motif for the background design.

Valentine’s Day Finger Laser Cards Printable for Kids

Valentine's Day Finger Laser Cards Printable for Kids

I am all about classroom parties! I am that mom that totally gets into it and wants to be a part of all of them for each of her kids. For my 3rd grade son’s Valentine’s Day party I wanted to do something fun for him and that he would love. Him being a complete and total boy, I knew he would absolutely love, love, love a comic book theme and what goes awesome with a comic book theme? Why, finger lasers of course! That my friends is how I came up with this freaking cute Valentine’s Day finger laser cards printable!

Valentine's Day Finger Laser Cards Printable for Kids

The inspiration for these came while wandering around Target and stalking the clearance sections. I found these four packs of finger lasers on clearance and just knew these would make a great Valentine’s Day handout for one of my boys.

Then the fun began. I tried creating numerous cards to go with these but none of them really grabbed me as being the perfect fit for the finger lasers. That is until I made these comic book themed cards. I mean after all, don’t comic book villains and lasers often go hand in hand? Once i settled on the design I was then able to get the cards printed up, I cut them out, punched holes in them and took some twine and tide on the finger lasers. These cards would also work great with glow sticks or mini flashlights if you can’t find finger lasers.

Do you have a young Jedi or Padawan in your house? (See how I went all Jedi Master there?) Then these are the Valentine’s Day cards for you! These Star Wars Valentine’s Day Printable Cards are a great option for your lightsaber wielding, one with the force child.

Star Wars Valentine's Day Printable Cards

I have created these cards in three fun Star Wars themed designs. Each one with a classic Star Wars character and a fun Valentine’s Day themed line on them. Each card has a blank line for your child to write out their name and the recipient’s name as well. These can be printed out and cut out and left as is and used as a perfect sized bookmark. That really keeps the cost down! If you want to though you can punch wholes along the top or side and add a glow stick. I figured those were the one thing you could do inexpensively that actually kind of reminds me of a lightsaber. You can usually find packages of 7-10 at the dollar store so still a relatively inexpensive and food free option for class parties.

To download your own set of these and print them off for this weeks class parties just click on the link below. Then all you need to do is print cut and decide if you are going with really easy bookmarks or grab your whole punch, punch some whole and add some glow sticks.

Free, Printable Christmas Thank You Cards for Kids

by Jennifer Wieland
Free, printable Christmas thank you cards for kids.

If your house is anything like mine then I know that Christmas must have been a whirlwind of family, friends, food, good times and gifts. While it’s loads of fun when it is going on if you are like me you may wonder if your kids remembered to thank everyone for all of the wonderful gifts they were given. I know I try to remind my group but with so many kids it can be difficult. So, to remedy that this year I decided to make some printable Christmas thank you cards for my kids to fill out and mail to family and friends.

Free, printable Christmas thank you cards for kids.

Using these thank you cards with kids is a great way to teach them the etiquette of saying thanks. It will also make the recipient feel special that your kids took the time to be appreciative of what they did for them. Oftentimes, people are left wondering how their gift was liked by the recipient but this lets them know that not only was it liked but it was also appreciated.

Here is what one filled out looks like. Before you ask… Yes, I did have a kid get a black top hat for Christmas from my mom and yes he did ask for it and was deliriously happy that he got it.

Free, printable Christmas thank you cards for kids. These cards print out as 3.5″ x 5″ cards so they can be printed on regular paper or card stock that you already have at home. That means they will fit in a standard size envelope that you probably already have on hand ay your house.

In order to print these cards out for your kids to use just click on the link below or any of the pictures above to download your very own copy.

by Jennifer Wieland
My Top 5 Holiday Card Picks From Minted
Thanks to Minted for sponsoring today’s post. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

I love finding the perfect holiday card every year. I order them early and make the kids take the perfect picture (or at least one where everyone is smiling) and then I hunt down the perfect card for that picture that fits my family for that year. Minted is always a perfect place to go to find beautiful cards and they have holiday cards that are perfect for everyone. One of the great things about Minted is that they offer unique Indie designs and free recipient address printing.

My Top 5 Holiday Card Picks From Minted

Here we go, my top five holiday card picks from Minted:

Holiday Ornament Cards

These beautiful cards are not your old-fashioned, traditional holiday cards. These are beautiful cards in fun shapes that are ornaments. Each one comes with a luxe linen ribbon so that they can be hung from the Christmas tree. It takes something that usually doesn’t last beyond the current holiday and makes it a keepsake to use year after year. My favorite one of these this year is the Sparkling Be Merry by Jill Means in teal. It comes in three different shapes and colors. I personally like the snowflake shape in teal. It makes me think of the movie Frozen which is a favorite with my daughter and me.

Holiday Minibook Cards

These fun and funky cards take your holiday photo cards to the next level by turning them into a small photo book. Each one has 7 pages of customizable text and photos and the books are hand-grommeted and measure 5″x7″ making them a lovely keepsake. The other thing that is great with these is that you get to add some details about your year and what each picture represents. This is perfect for those that like to send out a yearly update letter with photos in a more refined way. My personal favorite holiday minibook card is the Winter Foliage Cheer Holiday Minibook™ Cards by Karidy Walker.

Holiday Map Cards

The Holiday Map Cards by Jill Means I really like because they are so very different form your run of the mill holiday cards. Each one displays a map of the contiguous United States and you mark your city with a star. This idea is very popular in the craft, jewelry and home decor worlds right now. For these cards you can choose to do them with or without pictures which makes them a great option not only for families but businesses as well.

Amazing Comic Book Holiday Photo Cards

The Amazing Comic Book Holiday Photo Cards by Gakemi Art+Design are comic book geeks perfect idea of a family holiday card. Being able to customize your holiday card into what looks like a comic book will bring out the happy in any self-proclaimed geeky nerd. You don’t have to stop with the front of the card though. You can add a custom backer or additional page inserts for more photos and text.

Wreck the Halls Holiday Photo Cards

I birthed five boys before getting a daughter and since she follows her brothers she tends to be rather rough and tumble too. As a result anyone who enters my home would know that a card named Wreck the Halls by Sara Hicks Malone would be beyond appropriate for my group. There’s just something fun about being unapologetic for your kids being kids at the holidays. Once again you can add a custom backer or interior for more photos and texts.

They definitely have a design for every family.

Splash Cards from Winning Moves Games

by Jennifer Wieland
Winning Moves Games - Splash Cards - Splash Pals & Splashimals

I received products from Winning Moves Games to facilitate the review of these products but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

FTC Disclosure

Are you on the lookout for something other than candy to fill Easter baskets with this holiday season? If so, then have I got something to share with you. Winning Moves Games was kind enough to send over two of their Splash Cards games for me to review. We received Splash Pals which is designed to improve math and memory skills and Splashimals which is 15 animals with over 225 different combinations. When my five-year old saw these she was so excited because you see, Splash Cards can be played in the tub because they are washable and waterproof.

Winning Moves Games - Splash Cards - Splash Pals & Splashimals

Splashimals comes with 30 cards and each card has half of an animal pictured on it with half of the animal’s name. There are four different play options that really keep the game fun, interesting and age appropriate. Splash Pals comes with 36 cards and has four different age level types of play like the Splashimals but it also has a game and instructions for it. My daughter loves this game and I like that it helps with early math addition.  Both games come in mesh pouches with Velcro closure too so that the water can easily drain from the cards and they dry out nicely.

My daughter has our tub cluttered with dolls, foam toys, squirters and numerous other tub toys. She wanted to jump in the tub right away and start playing. For the sake of the review we did play with the cards out of the tub though which was still lots of fun. She has been playing with the cards though in the tub at bath time and could not be happier with them.

Winning Moves Games - Splash Cards - Splash Pals & Splashimals

I personally like the games because you can play with them in or out of the tub. The games are also designed for children ages 2(and under)-6 and the really great thing is they have different ways to use the cards based off of the child’s age. I like a game or toy that can grow with the kids and that they can get a ton of use out while learning and having fun. My seven and nine-year old boys who try to avoid bathing at all costs even started playing with them too in the tub. It has made bath/shower time so mush easier.Winning Moves Games - Splash Cards - Splash Pals & Splashimals

This Easter if you are trying to fill Easter baskets but want to avoid all of the candy or just want to add a fun and educational game then I would definitely recommend that you get these. For more information on Splash Cards and to check out the two other Splash Cards games be sure to head on over to the Winning Moves Games website. You can also find them on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
