Kid Friendly Snack Idea – Two Ingredient Nesquik Fruit Dip

by Jennifer Wieland
#Nesquik Chocolate Powder and Nesquik Ready-to-Drink keep your kids fueled.

My kids are always in the mood for a snack, especially after school or playing outside. While there are a ton of quick, easy convenient foods that they could grab I prefer them to have healthier foods too much on and refuel with. One thing I always reach for is Nesquik Ready-to-Drink or Nesquik Chocolate Powder to serve up a nutritious drink. One day though while my daughter was drinking her Nesquik and eating some fruit she was asking me if she could help me with one of my recipes. That’s when I got the idea to make a fun and easy recipe that she could make all on her own. Two Ingredient Nesquik Fruit Dip is a great way to add some fun and extra flavor to fruit or animal crackers for the kids.

Nesquik has been a staple throughout my life. When I was a kid and we only had an option for white milk at school my mom would send me with a plastic baggies with some Nesquik measured out for me to make my milk tasty. To this day the only way I can drink milk is if I stir in some Nesquik. So it’s no surprise that I’ve passed my love for Nesquik onto my kids.

It’s a big week in our house! We are very excitedly gearing up for the October 2nd Blu-Ray/DVD release of Avengers: Age of UltronThat’s right, we are a family that lets our Marvel comics geek flag fly, and fly high. Luckily, I was born to a father who knew how to raise a child right. He routinely took us to the comic book store and shared his collection with us. Now I get to share the same thing with my kids.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Vision's Protein Power Smoothie

In honor of the upcoming October 2nd Blu-Ray/DVD release of Avengers: Age of Ultron I decided that we needed to get some movie snacks in place and costumes to wear that were worthy of the greatness of the movie. Enter my edible Thor hammers and the Vision’s Protein Power Smoothie. Good for you snacks that are better than candy any day.

So to make all of this happen I headed to my local Walmart store and stocked up on MARVEL Avengers string cheese, MARVEL Avengers grapes and MARVEL chewy granola bars in the grocery section.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Vision's Protein Power Smoothie

Then I took a walk to the other side of the store and snagged the kids some fun Halloween costumes to wear on family movie night this weekend. That’s right, be jealous because I will be watching my Blu-ray copy of Avengers: Age of Ultron with not only the Hulk but Thor  and Captain America too.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Vision's Protein Power Smoothie

If any of you have seen the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie at the theaters then you know that Vision can do something that nobody but Thor can do. That’s why I decided to pair Thor’s hammer in snack form with a power packed protein smoothie that kids will love!

Avengers: Age of Ultron Vision's Protein Power Smoothie

To make the hammers I simply paired Marvel Avengers chewy granola bars with MARVEL Avengers string cheese. Placing a toothpick through the middle, lengthwise of the string cheese and then through the narrow end of a granola bar half is all you need to make these everyday snacks into something fun.

The smoothies are packed with flavors kids love with an added bump of protein to keep their energy going so they can be superheroes too.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Vision's Protein Power Smoothie

So what do the movie snacks look like finished? Well, take a look…

Fruit Salad Dressing made with Yoplait Greek 100

by Jennifer Wieland
Fruit Salad Dressing made with Yoplait Greek 100
Thank you to Yoplait for sponsoring today’s post and for inspiring me to try Yoplait Greek 100!

It’s a new year and like so many I have resolved to try to get healthy this year by eating better. That’s no easy task for a girl who likes to bake and thinks that butter should be its own food group. I knew setting out to try to get healthy that I was going to need to up my produce consumption. Like many I was not eating nearly enough fruit and veggies. The problem for me is not that I don’t like them, I do. My problem is that I prefer them raw. The issues with that though is that while you can add dressing to a salad easily most of the time raw fruit is just that… fruit. Now you can whip up a quick fruit salad but again that’s usually just plain old fruit and while it tastes good it gets old quickly. To change-up my fruit salad I created a Fruit Salad Dressing made with Yoplait Greek 100.

Fruit Salad Dressing made with Yoplait Greek 100

Making this Fruit Salad Dressing with Yoplait Greek 100 was a no brainer for me. With 100 calories, 0% fat and 10-12 grams of protein Yoplait Greek 100 is a dieters dream. It’s a perfect snack or a great item to incorporate into your healthier meals. I like that I can make a big fruit salad and a double or triple batch of this fruit salad dressing and then I have a quick breakfast or snack all ready to go. Yoplait Greek 100 is available in 20 different flavors so I can easily change-up this Fruit Salad Dressing just by using a different flavor. You can’t get much easier than that in the healthy eating world.

Quick Fruit Cobbler

by Jennifer Wieland
Quick Fruit Cobbler

I always like to have  some quick and easy recipes on hand that can be thrown together in no time at all for surprise guests or visitors. Throughout the year you can often get surprise visitors but it definitely seems to happen more for me during the holiday seasons. I think it’s because family comes into town and my husband forgets to tell me that people are coming by but it’s okay now. I used to freak out about not being prepared for surprise guests but now I just roll with it and have developed some recipes that are quick, easy and pretty much made out of pantry staples.

When people pop in for a visit I like to have a quick dessert that is great to share while sitting around the table chatting with friends and family. Something that can be tossed together in minutes and cooked while you are getting your company settled and that you don’t have to hover over. I like to serve something that is a comfort food and gives people a nice homey feeling and during the cold months I like a nice warm treat. So one of my favorite, quick go to recipes is my Quick Fruit Cobbler. It’s assembled in minutes and then you just pop it in the oven and then serve, usually with some ice cream. This recipe is so simple that even someone who has never cooked could manage to make it with no problems.

If you’d like to make this even better make it with some homemade pie filling. You can follow the link to get my recipe for Simple Homemade Cherry Pie Filling which is quick, easy and delicious.
