Fashion Outlets of Chicago is always the go to outlet mall for me. It’s packed with high-end and everyday stores and so many delish candy shops that any chocoholic will get their fix. This Christmas Fashion Outlets of Chicago is offering a top of the line Santa experience for you and your family. Santa HQ was designed and created by HGTV and just like all HGTV makeovers Santa’s house has been modernized. Visitors can download the Elf-Ray Vision app on their smartphones. You can then locate the gears around Santa’s house and workshop and see what those mischievous little elves are up to in the workshop. You can also get a 3-D view of all of Santa’s toy blueprints.

Kids can also get scanned to find out if they are the naughty or nice list with the big guy. After they are scanned their name will appear on either the naughty or nice list. You’ll have to work hard and hurry to get on the nice list though if you are on the naughty list because Christmas is just around the corner.

The whole family can also take pictures of themselves with the Elfie Selfie app. The whole family will then be elfed and put into a cute little dance video you can email to yourself. It’s adorable!

Kid’s Birthday Party Photo Booth Plus a Photo Frame Craft #StickaPic

by Jennifer Wieland

As an HP Smart Mom Panel member, I received free products in order to host the HP #StickaPic Party. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Kid’s birthday parties used to be a thing of simplicity. A few simple games, some food, presents and cake and you were done and out of the woods as the mom throwing the party. Now though, birthday parties have gotten bigger, fancier and have more to do than ever before. So what’s a mom to do to try to keep up with all of this without breaking the family bank? Why, have your own kid’s birthday party photo booth plus a photo frame craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper

I recently had my nephew’s first birthday party and it was mustache themed. Since all of the cousins were coming and were older, I wanted to give them a fun and entertaining craft project to do at the party. Lucky for me HP was kind enough to get my party planning craft idea in gear with some supplies.

I decided I would setup my HP Envy 5540 printer and create a makeshift photo booth for the kid’s to get their pictures taken with hat, beard & mustache props.

Then I printed out the photos for the guests. I used my cell phone to take the pictures and then printed the pictures to my HP Envy 5540 printer since it’s wireless. I used the Social Media Snapshots app on my phone to print. This app is available on both iOS and Android devices and can pull pics from your social media apps with captions.

My little niece waiting very patiently for her picture.

The HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper is sticker paper so it’s easy to peel and stick for kids.

I made a photo frame craft by using chipboard albums I had found at Michael’s. They were perfect since they would fit the photos and already had two holes in them to run ribbon or twine through to hang them up.

I cut off the bottom, white area of the photos before the kids stuck them to the chipboard. The kids then stuck the pictures of themselves onto the chipboard and then decorated them with stickers, paint markers and glitter glue.

They then ran ribbon or twine through the wholes and tied it and BOOM! They had an adorable gift to keep or give mom and dad.

The photo booth and the photo frame craft were the hit of the party with the kids!

My Top Five Holiday Card Picks From Minted

by Jennifer Wieland
My Top 5 Holiday Card Picks From Minted
Thanks to Minted for sponsoring today’s post. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

I love finding the perfect holiday card every year. I order them early and make the kids take the perfect picture (or at least one where everyone is smiling) and then I hunt down the perfect card for that picture that fits my family for that year. Minted is always a perfect place to go to find beautiful cards and they have holiday cards that are perfect for everyone. One of the great things about Minted is that they offer unique Indie designs and free recipient address printing.

My Top 5 Holiday Card Picks From Minted

Here we go, my top five holiday card picks from Minted:

Holiday Ornament Cards

These beautiful cards are not your old-fashioned, traditional holiday cards. These are beautiful cards in fun shapes that are ornaments. Each one comes with a luxe linen ribbon so that they can be hung from the Christmas tree. It takes something that usually doesn’t last beyond the current holiday and makes it a keepsake to use year after year. My favorite one of these this year is the Sparkling Be Merry by Jill Means in teal. It comes in three different shapes and colors. I personally like the snowflake shape in teal. It makes me think of the movie Frozen which is a favorite with my daughter and me.

Holiday Minibook Cards

These fun and funky cards take your holiday photo cards to the next level by turning them into a small photo book. Each one has 7 pages of customizable text and photos and the books are hand-grommeted and measure 5″x7″ making them a lovely keepsake. The other thing that is great with these is that you get to add some details about your year and what each picture represents. This is perfect for those that like to send out a yearly update letter with photos in a more refined way. My personal favorite holiday minibook card is the Winter Foliage Cheer Holiday Minibook™ Cards by Karidy Walker.

Holiday Map Cards

The Holiday Map Cards by Jill Means I really like because they are so very different form your run of the mill holiday cards. Each one displays a map of the contiguous United States and you mark your city with a star. This idea is very popular in the craft, jewelry and home decor worlds right now. For these cards you can choose to do them with or without pictures which makes them a great option not only for families but businesses as well.

Amazing Comic Book Holiday Photo Cards

The Amazing Comic Book Holiday Photo Cards by Gakemi Art+Design are comic book geeks perfect idea of a family holiday card. Being able to customize your holiday card into what looks like a comic book will bring out the happy in any self-proclaimed geeky nerd. You don’t have to stop with the front of the card though. You can add a custom backer or additional page inserts for more photos and text.

Wreck the Halls Holiday Photo Cards

I birthed five boys before getting a daughter and since she follows her brothers she tends to be rather rough and tumble too. As a result anyone who enters my home would know that a card named Wreck the Halls by Sara Hicks Malone would be beyond appropriate for my group. There’s just something fun about being unapologetic for your kids being kids at the holidays. Once again you can add a custom backer or interior for more photos and texts.

Now, to settle on a design for my family Christmas card and get them ordered. Which one will it be? I’ll let you know and share the final product with you all but in the meantime be sure to take a look at all of the holiday cards that Minted offers. They definitely have a design for every family.

Back To School First Day Printables for Photos

by Jennifer Wieland
First Day of School Photo Printables - My Sweet Sanity

Everyone loves taking those first day of school photos of their little munchkins so they can remember and see the changes in their kids from year to year. I admit I am totally one of those moms. I buy them each a special outfit to wear for their first day of school, get them gussied up all pretty like (since the rest of the year will be a craps shoot on how they look from day-to-day.) and imagine that the beautiful children will remain just as perfect as they are in that moment. So in the spirit of summer ending I have created some back to school first day printables for photos. There are two for each grade K-6th so there is some variety. All you need to do to use them is print them out and have your little ones hold them and snap away as many pictures as you like or to make it fancier you can buy a pretty frame and frame them and then have the kiddos hold the framed printables for photos.

First Day of School Photo Printables - My Sweet Sanity

I know some of you read that last paragraph and are all like, what it’s not even August yet! The back to school sales are already in full swing though. Doctors and dentists are all booked up with school exams needing to be done for all the kids before school. Many parents have already reached the, that was fun spending time with the kids but how much longer until they go back to school stage of summer. Then there are some parents like me, who are chomping at the bit waiting for school to start. Who are deliriously, unashamedly excited about it this year. This year all of the kids will be in school full day. My daughter, the last child starts kindergarten this year and the school district was so kind as to start full day kindergarten this year. That means I will have seven hours of kid free time! When I clean there will now be a window of time each day that it actually stays clean! Had to pause in typing there to dab the happy tear from my eye. This is going to be such a beautifully amazing thing! So if you wanted to know why I felt the need to get these printables up already now you have it. I’m excited for a clean house. I’m such a simple girl!

So proud of this guy! This is his second year being integrated back into our regular school district and he has made leaps and bounds in advancing in school because he doesn’t let his Autism define him.

First Day of School Photo Printables - My Sweet Sanity

This guy has worked so hard that last year he was declassified as being special needs in school! My little Asperger’s Syndrome man isn’t letting anything stop him.

First Day of School Photo Printables - My Sweet Sanity

My little princess is so excited to finally be a big kid and heading off to Kindergarten. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!

What about you? Are you looking forward to the start of the new school year or are you wishing for more time this summer with the kids?
