Eight Great Pre-Wedding Health Tips

by Jennifer Wieland
Eight great ways to say "I do" to a healthier you! #Wedding #Preperation

Pre-Wedding Health Tips

If you’re about to get married or you’re playing a big role in your loved ones’ wedding, slimming down might be on your to do list. Here are some tips to help you get ready for the big day.

Eight great ways to say "I do" to a healthier you! #Wedding #Preperation

Start Well In Advance

If you’d like to lose 10 pounds or more, that weight will take more than a few weeks to come off. It’s not realistic to have a goal to drop 30 pounds in two months, so start as far in advance as you can. Slow, steady weight loss is your best option for staying sane and keeping the weight off for the long run. Fad diets might work to quickly drop a few pounds, but you’re likely to feel miserable and gain all the weight back as soon as you stop dieting. For sustainable weight loss, start changing your habits several months before the wedding.

Drink Water Before Each Meal

The trick to glowing skin and a healthy digestive system is hydration. It can be hard to get the recommended eight glasses of water per day, so consider purchasing a “timer bottle.” This type of water bottle is marked with each hour of the day to remind you to pause every so often to take a sip. You should aim for at least two liters of water intake per day. Try drinking 500 mL of water upon waking to rev up your metabolism, and also drink a glass of water before each meal. This will help you feel full and prevent overeating.

Find Healthy Alternatives

When you’re preparing for a wedding, high fat foods like mayonnaise and salad dressing should be avoided. However, if a salad is only tolerable with a big dose of dressing, there’s no need to give up what you love. Hampton Creek offers a line of sustainably produced, guilt-free eggless mayo and salad dressing, so you can still enjoy added flavor on salads and sandwiches.

Snack on Vitamin C-Rich Foods

Planning a wedding can be one of the most stressful times in your life. Combined with long hours at work, your immune system can quickly tank if you don’t take care of yourself. To keep your immune system working to the best of its ability, snack on foods rich in Vitamin C, like strawberries. For even more Vitamin C and other nutrients, you can make a green smoothie for breakfast a few times a week to give you the energy you need to get you through the potentially stressful months to come.

Cut Down on Sugary Drinks

If you love going to your favorite coffee shop for a sugary concoction every morning, now is the perfect time to start cutting down. Drinking your calories is one of the most common ways of getting excess calories that your body doesn’t need, and too much sugar is also unhealthy. Alcoholic beverages are a big source of sugar, so try to cut down on these as well. Sugary drinks like cocktails can leave you feeling bloated, so especially in the weeks leading up to the wedding, stick to water or sugar-free tea.

Get Plenty of Omega 3s

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential in giving your skin a healthy glow. Two to three times per week, incorporate fish like salmon and tilapia into your meal plans. Some fish, like swordfish and mackerel, are high in mercury. It’s best to avoid those types of fish.

Get Your Rest

Don’t let wedding planning consume your life. Although this is likely to be an exciting and stressful time, try not to let planning every single detail take priority over important matters like adequate sleep. Wedding planning takes a lot of time and energy, but you should prioritize self-care and not get too caught up in the details.

Conclusion

Preparing for a wedding is a once in a lifetime experience. It can simultaneously be the happiest time of your life, and the most stress inducing. If you’d like to start changing your habits to shed a few pounds before the big day, make sure to drink enough water, stock up on vitamin rich foods like berries and salmon, and seek out healthy alternatives to high fat foods. Remember to set realistic, reachable goals so you aren’t tempted to try a fad diet in order to quickly drop the weight. No matter what, prioritize your beauty sleep and try to enjoy the experience instead of getting overwhelmed.

Marriage Survival Basket

Marriage Survival Basket

Spring is almost in the air now and that means spring and summer weddings are right around the corner. On coming up in my life is for my brother who is getting married next week. This past weekend was the bachelorette party which I wasn’t able to attend but wanted to send a gift. I know a lot of people think of bachelorette parties are all about dirty gifts but that’s just not my thing. I wanted it to be something that celebrates and pokes fun at the highs and lows of marriage. That’s how I came up with the idea for a marriage survival basket.

For my marriage survival basket I wanted it to include fun, useful and silly items. Things that would make the bride laugh when she read the card and what each item was for. I did also want them to be truly useful though because anyone who’s married knows there are definitely both good times and bad.

Champagne, sparkling wine, Prosecco or sparkling cider

Eye mask

Ear plugs

Candles

Candlesticks

Love note cards

A store gift card

Edible body paint

Silly sex book

Chocolate… lots and lots of chocolate

A nice basket

Printed note card (You can print out the one I made or create your own but definitely use some cute card stock paper to print it on.)

Cellophane wrap

A bow or ribbon

Tissue paper or newspaper

Place your items into your basket and place them in an aesthetically pleasing way. Use the tissue paper or newspaper to raise, lower and protect items from banging. Attach the printed note card and then use the cellophane wrap to wrap up the basket. Close the top of the cellophane wrap by wrapping a bow or ribbon around the bunched up cellophane at the top.

If you use the same items and want to print of the note card I used then just click on the picture to download and print the file. Be sure to use some pretty paper to print it out on to make it pop!

Happily Ever After Printable

Happily Ever After Printable

I love a good love story. I sob at the end of a romantic movie when the guy gets the girl. I get teary eyed when I watch a viral marriage proposal on the internet. I read romance novels like they are going out of style. Basically, I am one hopeless romantic! That’s not a bad thing. Especially when Valentine’s Day the most romantic day of the year is right around corner. In honor of all of the love, romance, flowers, chocolates, candlelit dinners and bow chicka wow wow I decided I wanted to make a Happily Ever After Printable!

This Happily Ever After Printable is a tribute to every classic fairytale. I wanted to create something that looked like an aged page from an old world story about princesses, their handsome princes and nefarious plots. **sigh** I decided to go for an antiqued or aged page from a book look. As if you had just opened the story and were about to start reading a glorious tale complete with over the top, elaborate fonts. I think I succeeded in my goals for a romantic, wistful print.

For this Valentine’s Day or to add a romantic touch to any room in your house. All you have to do is download the printable and print it off. Pop it into the frame of your choice and there you have it, a lovely piece of art for your home or a romantic gift ready to be bestowed upon your fair maiden or brave knight.

Trying to get your romance on and looking for more ideas for Valentine’s Day? Then be sure to check out some of my other Valentine’s Day recipes and projects.

How To Make a Great Loves Print

How to make a Great Loves Print - My Sweet Sanity #DIY #Craft #wedding #anniversary

Late last week my brother and his fiance became proud homeowners for the first time. They bought a home a short drive from my parent’s house and the kids and I got to go and take a tour of it on Friday. Whenever I go visiting to a new home for people I know I always like to bring them a little housewarming gift. Since this was the first time since college that either of them has lived on their own they need pretty much everything. I decided to gift them with a Thirty-One Room For Two Utility Tote filled with all sorts of things from measuring cups and spoons to toilet paper to detergent and bleach and a lot of other goodies. The one goodie that I was really proud of and the only one I made for them was a framed Great Loves Print. I had so much fun making it for them and they loved it so I would say it was a good idea. Now, I want to teach you how to make a Great Loves Print for yourself or to gift at a housewarming, bridal shower, wedding or anniversary for someone you know.

The idea for the Great Loves Print is not my idea. In fact, I have seen them for sale in different variations on Jane.com in the past. I couldn’t find a link to a current one. On Jane.com the prints usually sell for $9.99 plus shipping. Now that is just for the print. There’s no frame or anything else. I was able to create the print and have it printed on card stock at OfficeMax and buy a frame with a matte in it from JoAnn all for a mere $7. That’s right and that’s a whole heck of a lot cheaper.

This is the print I made for my husband and me.

So how does one make this totally awesome print?

It’s easy and here’s how…

Famous_Loves_Step1

Go to picmonkey.com, go to design and select your size.

PicMonkey Photo editing made of win
Famous_Loves_Step2

You will be taken to the above screen and put into the Canvas Color. Select the background color that you want for your print and clink on the Apply button.

Next you will need to click on the Tt icon along the left hand side. It will take you to the text window. Select the font you want to use. You can either use Picmonkey’s fonts (The ones with crowns by them are for paying users but not to worry there are a lot of free ones.) or you can click on Yours and use any of your fonts on your machine. You will click on the font and then on Add Text. This will open a text box and another box for the text properties. Select the color and size for your font here. Be sure to copy the font color you use so you can just paste it for the rest of the text boxes. Type a couple and size it to fit they way you want. Continue to do this for each couple making sure to match up the sizes. I like to move the text boxes over one that is already done to make sure they match up perfectly. The actual couples name should be somewhere near the middle and it should also be in bold with a gap between the names to place the heart.

This is what it should look like when you have all of the names in and are ready to add the heart.
