I received Yiva Daily Balance to try for the purpose of review and giveaway. All thoughts and opinions listed in this review are completely my own.
When I attended BlogHer ’13 I met and talked with the team from Yiva. They are a herbal supplement company and they originally talked about and showed me the fertility blend. I giggled and said I definitely did not need that since I already had 6 kids and got myself fixed after the last one. They did have two items though that did seem interesting to me. One was for a line of allergy products, Yiva Allergy (there are different blends) and one was for women’s issues, Yiva Daily Balance. The latter one in particular caught my attention. You see my doctor wants me to have a hysterectomy and I will probably end up having one but I wanted to see if the Yiva Daily Balance would help at all to buy me some time. So hold on tight now because this post is going to involve some over sharing on a personal level but hopefully some of you will find it helpful.
I have always suffered from long and heavy periods and it has only gotten worse after each pregnancy. It’s to the point that during them I have to take 3-4 iron supplements a day to function or I will be unable to stay awake or do much of anything. They are so heavy that I am known to keep spare clothes in the car. As for them being long, they usually last me 8-13 days. Yes, that’s right, 1/4 to almost 1/2 of each month is spent barely able to function, in pain and miserable. A couple of years ago I had my lining removed to help with this and it was heaven when it was working. It didn’t last long though and now I’m at the point where as I said before, the doctor wants to do a hysterectomy for this and another reason and I am just putting it off because I can’t have that sort of downtime. So I suffer and my hubby and kids get crabby, nutty, witch-y lady with the PMS from hell to deal with. So when Gary approached me and asked if I would be interested in doing a review I jumped at the chance. I figured if it helps at all and would buy me some time on not having surgery then why not? So he sent me some to try.
I will be honest, I was hoping really hard that this would work but I really didn’t hold out much hope that it would. I figured how could a fix be that easy? Just take a natural supplement? I jumped right in though, taking the supplement in the morning and evening. Then my period came. It just showed up. I had none of my usual physical issues that forewarn me of this. There were no migraines, I was not overly tired and cranky. I thought well if this is all it does then it is still an improvement but then I was shocked even further. My period never got heavy and ended on day five. I did a happy dance and giddily told my husband this. He actually told me hadn’t even realized it was that time of the month. So, yeah, this got a big ol’ thumbs up from my hubby for not having to deal with the usual misery he watches me endure each month.
For me the benefits of not having hormonal migraines and not having down time each month is so worth the cost of the Yiva Naturals Daily Balance. To be able to function and do things with my family that normally I would have to put on hold makes this product a lifesaver for me. So would I recommend this product? Yes, you bet I would. My only regret is not finding and trying it sooner. It will continue to be a part of my supplement routine.
