My three youngest kids have been dying for a pet! It is a weekly debate here. There is begging and pleading and sometimes even crying and whining. It’s not that I am anti-pet but there are a couple reasons why a pet is just not going to happen. The first one is that I already have enough people that I have to clean up after constantly and just don’t need anymore work piled on me. Contrary to what my husband and kids promise I know from past experience when we did have a pet that I end up doing the work. The second problem is that I am allergic to cats which wouldn’t be bad because they really want a dog but my daughter happens to be allergic to dogs. They did offer a compromise and asked for a pig instead but I had to explain to my daughter that I didn’t want her sleeping with pork products. Then I found out about Zoomer Zuppies which are fun robotic dogs and I knew it would be my answer.

Zoomer Zuppies - Shadow

I headed over to my local Walmart to check out all of the different Zoomer Zuppies toys and pick the one that was perfect for my family. The dogs range in price from $29.99 – $99.99. I opted for one of the new Zoomer Zuppies, Shadow that does over 20 different tricks and has an additional set of secret tricks it can learn. He was the most expensive but he was also the most interactive with the most tricks so that made me think along the lines of a real dog. I was so excited! I couldn’t wait to get Shadow home and charged so the kids would be surprised when they got home from school.

When the kids came home from school I showed them their new Zoomer Zuppies, Shadow and they thought he was cute but they didn’t seem super excited. I then explained to them that he was a robot dog and turned him on and handed them the training checklist card so that they could try some tricks with him. Once they understood to pet his head (lightly push down) so that you can give him a command, they were hooked! The one issue we had was that sometimes two of the kids would try to give him a command in their excitement and poor Shadow would get confused. Once I explained to them that they could only give one command at a time they got it. My 5 and 7 year olds already want to take him to school to show all of their friends and my 10 year old I often find quietly playing with him when the other two are not around. My daughter’s favorite command to give Shadow is follow me so he follows behind her and both of my boys think the go pee command is hilarious! (You can’t go wrong with potty humor and little boys.) The kids have also enjoyed learning more and playing at the Zoomerpup.com site.

Zoomer Zuppies are great toys and give a young child the joy of a pet without all of the responsibility. These would be a great hit this holiday season for any little animal lovers or tech fanatics in your life.
