LEGOLAND Discovery Center Review and Coupon

by Jennifer Wieland

I received four tickets to LEGOLAND Discovery Center for the purpose of review from US Family Guide & Merlin Entertainments Group. However, all thoughts and opinions in this post are my own.

This past weekend I had the chance to take my three younger ones to LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg. The three of them are huge Lego fans! Trust me on this, my hubby and I have the sore feet from stepping on Legos to prove it… lol. They had been looking forward to this the whole week. This worked as a great motivator for good behavior all week-long. So when the day finally arrived they happily got dressed and ready to go in record time. When we arrived and they spotted the building they barely remained seated until I had the car in park.

They were all full of excitement when they spotted the giant Lego works on display as soon as we walked in. My daughter was truly fascinated by the man on the bench. This helps to really amp up any Lego fan’s excitement level before even getting to the ticket counter. If you are buying tickets you can buy them online or once you get there. They have single tickets, family saver packs, annual passes or the Merlin Annual Pass USA (this can be used at places across the country) you can purchase. If you buy online there is a discount. Our tickets were there waiting for us and we had the option to add-on activity packs. My kids wanted them so we added them on for $4.50/each. The activity packs are on lanyards and have various activities and stamps to collect as you go through LEGOLAND. This is a good deal to buy if you plan on eating, buying any of the photos they take or shopping in the store as they have coupons in the back.

The kids really loved the whole place. There was something there for each of them. My 6 & 9 year olds are on the Autism Spectrum and some places work better for them than others. This place worked great! LEGOLAND really plays to those on the Autism Spectrum with all of the sensory and tactile features. For my group, their favorite things at LEGOLAND were the rides and the 4-D theater.

The food prices at the café were reasonable for an outing like this. The kid’s meals were $5 – $6 with options like pizza and hot dogs with a drink and a Lego Mini-Figure. As any of you Lego buying parents know, the Mini-Figures alone are $3 at the store so this is not a bad deal at all and, getting a toy like that helped entice them to take a break and eat lunch. They also have family meal options or a la carte items.

Now onto some review basics: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restrooms were clean and they did have family restrooms for those who require them. There is a play area that requires no shoes and that you wear socks. So keep that in mind when getting ready for your trip. There is plenty of seating for parents on the upper floor where many of the build areas are and where the café is so you can sit and easily watch your children play.

So, bottom line, would I recommend LEGOLAND Discovery Center? Yes, I would. The entire experience was great and my kids made sure to hit everything available. We left after 3.5 hours of play and with them asking when we could go back again. I liked the place too and think that annual passes are definitely in our future.

My readers can still get a FREE Child Admission with Full Paid $20 Adult Admission now through the end of the year!
