Summer is here! School is out and I am already wondering how much longer until school is back in session. I love my babies, don’t get me wrong but trying to work from home while entertaining the troops can try even the most patient of souls. That’s why getting together at night or on the weekends with friends for a mommy break is so important. I’m going to share with you my five favorite mommy break activities and how to make NESCAFE Clasico Affogato, the perfect summer pick me up.
Stepping away from work, family, home and everyday stresses is important for moms. You need that balance so that you feel more than just a wife, mom, employee, volunteer, housekeeper or whatever else takes up your days.
Top 5 Mommy Break Activities
Spa Time
You take care of everyone all week-long. Taking time to pamper yourself with your girlfriends is a great way to indulge while unwinding with your besties. Whether it’s a full on spa day or a simple mani/pedi it will go a long way to restoring you.
Shopping
This one is tricky. As a mom it’s so hard to shop for just you. To walk into a mall and say, ‘This is just me today and not the house, the kids or the hubby.” Take the time to focus on you and enjoy shopping with your girls who will be honest about how you look in the clothing you try on. Plus, get yourself a cute outfit, some sexy new shoes or some lingerie and your spouse will definitely be willing to let you to slip out with treats like that to show off.
Lunch or Dinner
I know this one seems a little odd. I mean you can just go out to eat with your family any old day of the week. What makes it different with your buddies is that they are in the same boat as you most likely. They want a break, the kids are driving them nuts, they want to rant about whatever annoying thing their husband is doing… You get the idea. You get to be you and just you, not mommy or wifey all while enjoying some good food. Added bonus, you get to head to that fancy little bistro or dessert bar that your hubby has no interest in going to dine at.
Movies
Sometimes you don’t need to talk to have a good time with your friends or to unwind. Sometimes you just want to sit in the dark, eat junk food, and watch a sappy. chick flick with someone who will totally appreciate it as much as you do.
Hit the Gym
The gym? Say what? I know that’s what you were thinking. The gym is a great way to unwind. Working up a sweat while exercising is not only great for your body but also your mental well-being. Add in talking to your bestie (a.k.a. your personal psychiatrist) and you will definitely be felling like yourself again when it’s over.
The important thing in all of this is finding what works for you and your friends to help restore a bit of the sanity that the summer, schools out insanity creates.

- 1 tsp. NESCAFE Clasico
- 6 oz. hot water
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- In a mug combine the NESCAFE Clasico and water. Stir together. In a glass scoop two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Pour the prepared NESCAFE Clasico coffee over the ice cream.
