FX New Show Better Things & Giveaway

Mom life can be fun, it can be loving, it can be chaotic and at times downright scary! Most television shows make being a mom seem glamorous and easy. Everything gets wrapped up in a pretty little package in one episode or some take daily drama and drag it out into the realm of unreality. There are very few shows that come across with all of the ups and downs, highs and lows that you get every single day as a mom. The new FX show Better Things is different though, it takes a look at the reality of mom life.

The new show Better Things is a new comedy series on FX co-created by Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K. It stars Pamela Adlon as “Sam Fox,” a single, working actor with no filter trying to raise her three daughters – “Max” (Mikey Madison), “Frankie” (Hannah Alligood) and “Duke” (Olivia Edward) – in Los Angeles. She is mom, dad, referee and the cops. Sam also watches out for her mother, “Phil” (Celia Imrie), an English expatriate, who lives across the street. Sam’s just trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two and also — just maybe — squeeze in some private time once in a while.

As someone who has been a teen mom, single mom and married mom, I love finding a show that takes you through the whole gamut of mom life. I know in my experience as a mom I can relate to a lot of the clips from the show. Come on who here has dealt awkward conversations with your kid, or needed to find a way to vent or just couldn’t figure out when those lines and wrinkles popped up and wondered if it was somehow due to the kids?

I saw the “Pillow” clip and it’s so relatable. I live with a 12 year old girl. I so get it.

Looks like another show to add to my DVR list! I lol’d at the Fresh clip. I’m moments away from needing Botox.

My favorite mom stories usually come from my friend who has twin boys. Never a dull moment in her life.

I can’t wait to see this show thanks for sharing these clips. My favorite mom story. Hmm I think it would be always being with my mom through so many special moments. I love spending time with her over coffee in the mornings or relaxing on the weeknds. My favorite thing she has told me is to be happy and always be yourself. Never change for anyone. Such great advice my mom gives and she always puts others before herself.

My favorite mom story is when my mom told me to put eggs in a pot to boil and I cracked them all into the water.

Pam Adlon is awesome. I dread the day my 16 year old ask me for organic pot. Some conversations should be separated from parents and kids.

My favorite mom story is my mom helping my sister with her kids while she goes to school and work, and I know its not easy because I help with them when I visit but my mom does it and if she had to do it all over again I know she would

This looks like it might be one of the better shows of the season.. My favorite mom story is that of my own mom- she raised 3 girls by herself and kept a positive attitude about life even after getting sick. I miss her every day! Thanks for the chance.

My favorite mom story…. I have so many..but one of my classics has to be when I was teaching my son how to drive. All was well until he had to make a right turn at the end of our street. He took the turn at 25 mph!!! His explanation was “thats the speed limit” after the f-ings and the what’s wrong with you. I had a death grip on the top handle of my car I was so stiff during this 15 min. Lesson, that I ended up with a stiff neck. On a go forward basis we practiced at the cemetery before heading into the real streets. You can’t kill anyone there.

Good show – I like the storylines with the older daughter. Its totally relevant in regards to the casual drug use of todays teens and cavalier attitudes toward illicit things. I’ve never supported Hollywood’s tacit endorsement of weed, so hopefully Better Things will tackle the subject responsibly in the future.

Probably when I was using cloth diapers operating on zero sleep and forgot to put the cover on the diaper, I was not a happy camper that night

My Mom story was when my second child would not sleep at nights. One night I was so sleep deprived that I was rocking her on my chest and went to sleep and slid out of the rocking chair. Thank goodness I woke up before we hit the floor.

I think this will be a funny show to watch and one that many people can relate to. I have not had many funny mom stories that I can recall other than the throw ups or diaper explosions that happen.

I can relate to the smoke detector clip. One of my favorite mom stories from my life was going to the Dr at 8 months and finding out I was having twins. Yes, I had already had 2 ultrasounds.

    Michelle C says:

My favorite Mom story is actually a story that my mom loves to tell from when I was a teenager. She’s told it so many times that it’s a family legend at this point. She taught me to drive and then took me to take the driving test. I was so nervous that I accidentally listed my weight with an extra digit when I was completing the application form! I’m a mom with three kids of my own now, yet she still teases me about that incident!

Being a new mom is akin to being thrown out of a helicopter by a commando Navy Seal in the hopes of training you to be one of their own. Only problem is only half the time you remember to bring your parachute with you.

My kid vomited from birth. We nearly lost her in the first week when she vomited in the crib and choked– from there on vomiting became a social act. The more important the event, the nicer and newer the dress, the better the restaurant…well you get the point. But that is what being a mom is about, dealing with it and loving it even when you are cleaning up puke.

I love the scene about the bed eye. It captures that moment when you wake up and think oh no, just five more minutes before the commando Navy Seal comes to get me.

Most memorable mom moment was when I picked my kids up from soccer practice with my dog and he decided to throw up in the car on the way home!
