I think my mom always has the perfect Christmas tree in the world! It is always unique and just looking at it tells the story of our family. You see her tree is covered in crafts my siblings and i made as kids and projects all the grandkids have made her over the years. It may not be the most glamorous tree in the world but it shows all of the stages of our lives. To this day she would still rather get a handmade project from us rather than some big, fancy gift. That is one of the things I love most about her! This year I am going to gift her with a new addition to the tree from me and it will be one of these rustic, ribbon Christmas tree ornaments. I know she’s going to love it.

The really great thing about this project is that it is simple and definitely something the kids can do or help you with and the supply list is super simple.

Ribbon (Any type, mix-n-match. I used both wired and wireless.)

Sticks (If it’s already snowed where you are at and can’t fin any on the ground you can use popsicle sticks. Just color them with a brown marker.)

Buttons (I used wooden ones that had a sort of star, flower shape to them.)

To make these all you need to do is cut the ribbon into four staggered lengths. For the smaller one I used 7″, 6″, 5″ and 4″ lengths. I then tied them onto the stick. I added a dab of hot glue to the knot so that it will stay tied.

Next I hot glued a wooden button to the top of the stick as the tree topper and then glued on some twine as the ornament hanger. If you are making these with kids you can skip the hot slue and use another type of glue instead it will just need to dry before handling it.

That’s it! You’re done! How easy was that?
