5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Launcher – Summer Camp Fun Plus a Discount

by Jennifer Wieland
5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

It’s getting nicer and nicer outside with each passing day and the kids are itching for the end of school so that they can play all day and have loads of fun. One of the great things about spring and summer is that there are so many cheap things to create for hours of fun. My kids love when I let them make this 5 minute DIY marshmallow launcher. When we make them it’s like summer camp is at our house. They run around the yard and even the house during bad weather shooting marshmallows at each other.

5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

Quick, cheap and easy are words I love to hear when coming up with things for the kids to make. These 5 minute DIY marshmallow launchers fit the bill on all three. You can pick up every single thing you need at the dollar store and more than likely have some or all of the items at home already.

5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

SUPPLIES

styrofoam cup(s)

balloon(s)

duct tape

marshmallows

scissors

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut an inch or two off of the bottom of the styrofoam cup.

5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

Blow up the balloon but do not tie it. Let the air out so  it can deflate. This helps to get the balloon stretchy.

5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

Tie the end of the balloon as you would if it was inflated. Cut about 1/2″ off of the rounded top.

5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

Open up the end of the balloon that you just cut and stretch it to fit over the bottom (cut end) of the cup.

5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

Use duct tape to secure the balloon to the cup. I like colorful or decorative duct tape. It makes the shooters more lively and each kid can pick a color/design to customize theirs.

5 Minute DIY Marshmallow Shooter - Something fun and educational for the kids to make.

Now your marshmallow shooter is all ready to go. Pop a marshmallow inside, pull the tied balloon end and let it go! Watch the marshmallow sail through the air.

One of the things I love about this project is that it’s a great way to add some science into your children’s play without your kids noticing at all. Here’s how:

  • Use both mini and regular marshmallows. Test to see which one goes farther.
  • Hold the cup at different angles. Which angle made the marshmallow shoot farthest?

Valentine’s Day Finger Laser Cards Printable for Kids

Valentine's Day Finger Laser Cards Printable for Kids

I am all about classroom parties! I am that mom that totally gets into it and wants to be a part of all of them for each of her kids. For my 3rd grade son’s Valentine’s Day party I wanted to do something fun for him and that he would love. Him being a complete and total boy, I knew he would absolutely love, love, love a comic book theme and what goes awesome with a comic book theme? Why, finger lasers of course! That my friends is how I came up with this freaking cute Valentine’s Day finger laser cards printable!

Valentine's Day Finger Laser Cards Printable for Kids

The inspiration for these came while wandering around Target and stalking the clearance sections. I found these four packs of finger lasers on clearance and just knew these would make a great Valentine’s Day handout for one of my boys.

Valentine's Day Finger Laser Cards Printable for Kids

Then the fun began. I tried creating numerous cards to go with these but none of them really grabbed me as being the perfect fit for the finger lasers. That is until I made these comic book themed cards. I mean after all, don’t comic book villains and lasers often go hand in hand? Once i settled on the design I was then able to get the cards printed up, I cut them out, punched holes in them and took some twine and tide on the finger lasers. These cards would also work great with glow sticks or mini flashlights if you can’t find finger lasers.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and as a parent and PTA board member I know that means class parties are in my future. Our school district does not allow food treats during parties so it is always a challenge to find something to do that doe snot involve pencils, erasers or the like. I’m sure these Classroom Valentine’s Day Card Gift Idea – Watercolor Art sets will be a hit with the kids and the parents.

FREE PRINTABLE - Classroom Valentine's Day Card Gift Idea - Watercolor Art

Since I’m in the Chicago suburbs our kids spend a lot of time cooped up during the winter months due to all of the cold and snow. It’s always important to have things on hand that can help stave off the boredom of a cold, gray and snowy day. My kids love being able to make crafts or create art projects and so do most kids. That’s why I thought the idea of watercolor sets would be fun!

FREE PRINTABLE - Classroom Valentine's Day Card Gift Idea - Watercolor Art

I was able to snag these watercolor sets for only 58¢ a pop at Target when all of the back-to-school supplies went on clearance. Kid’s Birthday Party Photo Booth Plus a Photo Frame Craft #StickaPic

by Jennifer Wieland
Kid's Birthday Party Photo Booth and Photo Frame Craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper #StickaPic
As an HP Smart Mom Panel member, I received free products in order to host the HP #StickaPic Party. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Kid’s birthday parties used to be a thing of simplicity. A few simple games, some food, presents and cake and you were done and out of the woods as the mom throwing the party. Now though, birthday parties have gotten bigger, fancier and have more to do than ever before. So what’s a mom to do to try to keep up with all of this without breaking the family bank? Why, have your own kid’s birthday party photo booth plus a photo frame craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper

Kid's Birthday Party Photo Booth and Photo Frame Craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper #StickaPic

I recently had my nephew’s first birthday party and it was mustache themed. Since all of the cousins were coming and were older, I wanted to give them a fun and entertaining craft project to do at the party. Lucky for me HP was kind enough to get my party planning craft idea in gear with some supplies.

Kid's Birthday Party Photo Booth and Photo Frame Craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper #StickaPic

I decided I would setup my HP Envy 5540 printer and create a makeshift photo booth for the kid’s to get their pictures taken with hat, beard & mustache props.

Kid's Birthday Party Photo Booth and Photo Frame Craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper #StickaPic

Then I printed out the photos for the guests. I used my cell phone to take the pictures and then printed the pictures to my HP Envy 5540 printer since it’s wireless. I used the Social Media Snapshots app on my phone to print. This app is available on both iOS and Android devices and can pull pics from your social media apps with captions.

My little niece waiting very patiently for her picture.

The HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper is sticker paper so it’s easy to peel and stick for kids.

Kid's Birthday Party Photo Booth and Photo Frame Craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper #StickaPic

I made a photo frame craft by using chipboard albums I had found at Michael’s. They were perfect since they would fit the photos and already had two holes in them to run ribbon or twine through to hang them up viagra for women

Kid's Birthday Party Photo Booth and Photo Frame Craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper #StickaPic

I cut off the bottom, white area of the photos before the kids stuck them to the chipboard. The kids then stuck the pictures of themselves onto the chipboard and then decorated them with stickers, paint markers and glitter glue.

Kid's Birthday Party Photo Booth and Photo Frame Craft with HP Social Media Snapshots Photo Paper #StickaPic

They then ran ribbon or twine through the wholes and tied it and BOOM! They had an adorable gift to keep or give mom and dad.

The photo booth and the photo frame craft were the hit of the party with the kids!

4th of July Edible Centerpieces

by Jennifer Wieland
4th of July Edible Centerpieces

The 4th of July is this weekend and for us the holiday usually involves the local parade, a family BBQ and fireworks to round out the night. I’m sure this is also how a lot of other people spend the day as well. It’s a great holiday for friends, family and fun. For the tables this year I decided to make 4th of July edible centerpieces since our family is over run with kids currently. Something that the kids or kids at heart could just grab and nosh on when they felt like it.

4th of July Edible Centerpieces

These edible centerpieces consist of star marshmallows in two sizes, Rice Krispie Treats cut out with a star cookie cutter, candies and sprinkles for the edible portion.

4th of July Edible Centerpieces

This is also a great thing to make and let the kids put them together and decorate. Not only does it lessen your work but it also keeps the kids out-of-the-way so you can get everything else done.

4th of July Edible Centerpieces

For the stands to hold the edible treats you can use any red, white or blue containers that you think will work. I personally used a red, square, bamboo cup and a blue, oval, tin bucket.

Super Family Full of Avengers Fans – Captain America Shield Foam Hair Clip

by Jennifer Wieland
Captain America Shield Foam Hair Clip #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

I grew up with a comic book loving dad. I think his regularly for instilling this love into me and I’m so happy to be passing it on to my children as well and I have to say (pats self on back) that I am pretty proud of myself for raising them right. That’s my super family is full of Avengers fans and we aren’t afraid to admit or show the world in all our wild and wacky glory.

We have been talking about and celebrating the upcoming release of MARVEL’S The Avengers: Age of Ultron and have plans to see it this weekend. The kids have been running around sporting some new MARVEL’S The Avengers: Age of Ultron toys that I got for them. I decided they each need to look the part of their favorite character so we got some dress up play items and they have been having a blast!

My super kids being super Avengers fans. #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

Luke – Iron Man

Luke loves Iron Man and it’s no wonder why. He is our little technical genius in-house who picked up I.T. from his parents at a young age and it’s currently teaching himself programming at the ripe old age of 10. Not bad for a child who was just integrated back into our home school district from a special needs one due to being on the Autism Spectrum. Definitely someone this super momma is proud to call her son!

Jackson – The Hulk

Jackson is my emotionally sensitive child and also on the Autism Spectrum and I think he gravitates towards The Hulk for that reason. He gets the highs and lows he goes through but beneath it all has a good heart and lots of caring. He loves helping and taking care of others. Those are fine traits this super momma is so proud her son has!

Ellie – (Ms.) Captain America

Ellie is my only daughter and the baby and loves all things pretty, shiny and/or sparkly. She’s our own in-house fashionista who has a funky and eclectic style. She loves Captain America because he has the prettiest outfit according to her. She likes to refer to herself as Ms. Captain America and adds a little sass to her play costume with a tutu and matching leggings. This super momma loves that I’m raising a daughter that knows a girl can be more than a princess and can be the hero that saves the day all on her own!

Captain America Shield Foam Hair Clip #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

Mom – Super MARVEL fan

I love all things MARVEL and am so excited about this movie that I decided that I needed to take my super crafty skills and make myself something fun and funky for seeing the movie and to go with my MARVEL’S The Avengers t-shirt. That’s how I came up with this adorable Captain America’s shield hair clip

Captain America Shield Foam Hair Clip #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

SUPPLIES

red, white and blue peel and stick glitter foam

alligator clip

low heat hot glue gun and stick

DIRECTIONS

Using objects of various circular sizes (I used biscuit cutters) place them on the back of the peel and stick foam and trace. You will need two large about 3.5″ across in red, one white circle in about 2.5″, one red circle about 1.5″, a blue circle about 1″ and a white star about 1″. For the star I just free hand drew one. If you can find pre-done stars you can buy those but I wasn’t able to find any.

Captain America Shield Foam Hair Clip #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

Peel the backing off of the two large red circles and match up the sticky sides together so it is now glittery looking on both front and back. Next, peel off the back on the white and center it onto the large red circle. Follow next with the small red circle on the white and then the blue circle onto the small red circle. Finally peel the backing from the star and attach it to the blue circle.

Captain America Shield Foam Hair Clip #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

Using a low heat hot glue gun place glue onto the flat side of the alligator clip and firmly press onto the back of the shield. Let the glue set and then you are ready to use.

Specially marked MARVEL'S The Avengers: Age of Ultron foods at Walmart #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

After all of my crafting and the kids role-playing we definitely need to refuel with some snacks. Luckily, Walmart has all of the specially marked The Avengers: Age of Ultron specially marked packages of Kellogg’s Fruit Snacks and Cheez-It baked snack crackers. Which the kids just love! For us adults though I grabbed some of the specially marked Doritos and Dr. Pepper.

Specially marked MARVEL'S The Avengers: Age of Ultron foods at Walmart #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

These were so popular there were only two left in the store!

What makes it even more fun shopping for and enjoying at home with these snacks is that you can download the Super Heroes Assemble app. Avengers fans, it’s time to Assemble again. With Super Heroes Assemble, turn your phone into a portal to exclusive MARVEL’S Avengers: Age of Ultron content. Keep up to date with the latest movie and behind-the-scenes action. Plus, scan The Avengers displays at Walmart and Walmart.com to become your favorite Avenger, explore a Hulkbuster training facility in a cool 360 degree interactive space and to bring MARVEL’S Avengers: Age of Ultron characters to life with augmented reality.
