I get it! In this day and age every one is busy. Whether you’re a kid with school, sports and activities, a single adult trying to make life happen or a busy parent trying to juggle home, work and family. As a mom there are days when I feel like I’m going non-stop from before sunup until well after I’ve tucked the last kid in for the night. I’ve also found as I get older it gets harder and harder to keep my energy levels up to maximum in order to get everything I need to get finished done in one day. Now that I’m also Diabetic I have to watch my body and understand it more than ever. One of my favorite new go-to ways to refuel or snack on the go while keeping to healthy options is with Dannon Light & Fit and Dannon Oikos Nonfat Yogurt Drinks.

My days start out all kinds of crazy! We have learning centers here and each one starts at a different time. Buses are coming all morning long and each one of my kids has a different wakeup and get out the door time. Throw in an adult son and husband heading to work at different times and trying to make sure everyone is fed, has lunches packed and is out the door on time doe snot leave me much time to grab breakfast to get my day started right. Being able to drink a Dannon® Light & Fit® Yogurt Drink helps me to get the nutrition I need while making it through a three-hour window of getting folks up, ready and out the door at my house.  For balanced nutrition on-the-go, Dannon® Light & Fit® Nonfat Yogurt Drinks are a smart choice. They help me shake up my routine with delicious favorite fruit flavors. They come in a convenient 7 fl. oz. bottle and are a nonfat yogurt drink with 9 grams of protein, 90 calories, 0 added sugar, and 0% fat.

My Favorite Things Holiday Giveaway 2016

My favorite things at the holidays are shopping for the perfect gift for everyone on my list. I like to think I work really hard at getting everyone I know and love just what they want so I can see a smile on their face when they open up their gifts. Shopping at the holidays can be rough though and you have to go into the stores prepped and ready. To make the perfect shopping day I need several of my favorite things to be able to get my shopping done and fight the crowds.

My Favorite Things Holiday Giveaway 2016

The perfect shopping trip needs a great tote bag to toss smaller purchases into, store your wallet, phone and shopping lists. This Vera Bradley Tote in the Cherry Blossoms print (retail value $48) is an ideal shopping tote. To make holiday shopping easier I like to use a smaller wallet that can hold all of my cards I’ll be using and that has an ID window for you ID. It makes it so much easier to show cashiers when they are tougher on card purchases. This adorable little Vera Bradley Zip ID Case in the Parisian Pom Poms print (retail value $12) is perfect for that. After I’ve made my Christmas shopping lists and checked them twice I can keep them organized along with all of my receipts just in case I was not so great at picking out the perfect present with binder clips. For my prize pack I have some fun ones from Vera Bradley in Midnight Paisley (retail value $8).

My Favorite Things Holiday Giveaway 2016

To start out any holiday shopping trip or just a day in my life in general I require caffeine. To give you that energy boost to power through long lines and crowded stores my prize pack includes a $10 Starbucks gift card. Once your out at the stores it’s nice to know that you have plenty of money to spend so I’m including $10 Walmart, $10 Target and $10 Kohl’s gift cards to help make your holiday shopping less hard on your bank account. Of course after a long day of shopping and toting bags around you need to refuel. One of my favorite fast food places is Chick-fil-A because I can grab grilled chicken nuggets and a salad of some sort to keep it healthy but quick and yummy. You’ll be able to do the same with a $10 Chick-fil-A gift card. It’s a good thing you’ll have a new wallet and tote to carry around all of these gift cards if you are my lucky winner of My Favorite Things Giveaway 2016!

Earn Double Box Tops with Walmart Back to School Shopping

Right now you can earn high marks from your kid's teacher and school with classroom school supplies and double Box Tops for Education! #EarnDoubleAtWalmart #ad

Back to school shopping isn’t just about getting your kid the coolest backpack, supplies to fill their desks or the perfect outfit. It’s also about getting the teacher what they need for the classroom for the year. Right now you can earn high marks from your kid’s teacher and school with classroom school supplies while you earn double Box Tops for Education!

Right now you can earn high marks from your kid's teacher and school with classroom school supplies and double Box Tops for Education! #EarnDoubleAtWalmart #ad

Every year I get a school supply list for each of my kid’s classrooms. Boxes of Kleenex are always listed as a required school supply and often times paper towels can found on the school supply lists for the younger kids. Having both volunteered and worked for our local school district I know how important those boxes of Kleenex are to have on hand. When seasons change and allergies kick in lots of little noses get runny. When cold season hits boxes of Kleenex need to be on hand to help with runny, stuffy noses and to cover coughs and sneezes. In the classrooms for the little kids in our district paper towels go a long way in helping to keep rooms tidy and clean.

Even if your school doesn’t ask for these supplies you can make mornings less hectic by keeping bathrooms stocked at home with Scott toilet paper. I’ve learned from experience that having a large family and only two bathrooms in the house if there is any delay in bathroom timing in the morning it can throw off everyone’s morning schedule.

Mexican Honey Puff Mix in a Gift Basket

Mexican Honey Puff Gift Basket with Don Victor Honey

Holiday season is finally upon us and that means it’s time to figure out everyone you need gifts and hope that your list won’t break the bank. One way to do that is to make some of the gifts you give. It not only saves money but also lends a personal touch and thoughtfulness to the gift  itself. I personally love to make food gift baskets for friends and family. It’s a great way to share my favorite foods like Don Victor Honey and a new recipe that they may never have tried before. Throw in little extras like a mixing bowl instead of a basket and cooking tools or other kitchen items and you have a very lovely gift. Mexican Honey Puff Gift Basket with Don Victor Honey

This year I am on a bit of a honey kick. I have always shied away from it before but I’m finally embracing it and all the amazing things you can do with it. Not only is it tasty it’s also a hidden gem in your beauty routine too. My favorite brand that I found at Walmart in the Hispanic food aisle is Don Victor Honey. I love that it’s a raw, filtered honey that is not heated or processed in any other way. I’m also fascinated by the fact that Don Victor Honey contains part of the honeycomb in every jar.

Mexican Honey Puff Gift Basket with Don Victor Honey

I don’t know if you knew this or not, because it was new to me but you can actually eat the honeycomb. Cut off a little piece and serve it on warm biscuits, toasts, french toast or pancakes for a delightful breakfast treat. The honeycomb does not melt but it will become soft and aromatic.

Mexican Honey Puff Gift Basket with Don Victor Honey

Since honey is a new fascination of mine I decided to start making up some gift baskets focused on a recipe that can be made to showcase honey. I created a lovely Mexican Honey Puffs (Sopapillas) gift basket. It has a jar of Mexican Honey Puffs mix, cinnamon sugar and Don Victor Honey along with some tools to make the recipe along with a recipe card on how to make them.

Virgin Mobile Custom with Parental Controls

Virgin Mobile Custom at Walmart - Build your own plan & parental controls #Sponsored #VirginMobileMom #MC

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Influence-Central for Virgin Mobile. I received a sample device to facilitate my review and a thank you item for participating.

My ten-year old son is Autistic and technology is something he gravitates towards. It makes him feel comfortable, he excels at it and it’s a way for him to bridge the gap socially with other children his age. He has been asking for a cell phone for quite some time now but both my husband and I have been hesitant to get him one because we did not want his usage of data and when he used it to go unchecked. Luckily, we learned about Virgin Mobile Custom with parental controls.

Virgin Mobile Custom at Walmart - Build your own plan & parental controls #Sponsored #VirginMobileMom #MC

Virgin Mobile Custom plans and phones are new and available at select Walmart locations and on Walmart.com.

Virgin Mobile Custom at Walmart - Build your own plan & parental controls #Sponsored #VirginMobileMom #MC

The new Virgin Mobile Custom plans allow you select what amount of talk, text and data you need so you can control your monthly costs and you are never locked into a contract. The plans start as low as $6.98/month but are completely customizable. Don’t talk on the phone really but text a lot? You can up your number of texts. Do you have a child like mine that only needs the phone for emergency calls, to text mom and dad but will more than likely be a data hog? Then keep the base plan for talk and text at 20 talk minutes and 20 text messages but up the data to 1GB a month. They even have specialized unlimited plans for Social (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), Music (Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, etc.), Navigation (Google Maps, Telnav & Waze) and International Calling. You can even make the new Virgin Mobile Custom into a family plan and select what works best for your whole family while keeping it all affordable.

The thing that appealed most to me about Virgin Mobile Custom was the parental control they offer. You get to assign what apps work and when they do. You can pick the days of the week and times of day for each app. I also like being able to control who my child can and can’t call or text which this allows for. The big thing for me though is setting curfews. I am able to set the phone not to work during certain times of the day. During the school week the phone will not work between 8 am and 3 pm. Every day of the week the phone is set to curfew between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am so I know he is sleeping and not horsing around on his phone instead.

One app to select and adjust your plan, set parental controls and curfews, buy special offers and share plans with other devices.

Do you have a teen or tween who wants a smartphone but you have been hesitant to get them one? Here are some facts about what kids are saying about cell phones, some interesting statistics and why Virgin Mobile Custom is the right phone service for parents to give their kids.

Hallmark Northpole Toys – Add New Holiday Traditions

by Jennifer Wieland
Hallmark Northpole - Once Upon a Christmas book & Follow Me, Santa Snowflake #NorthPoleFun #CollectiveBias
This shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

I think most people would agree that Christmas time is a magical time of joy, happiness and family traditions. Ask any family that celebrates Christmas and they can all tell you at least one tradition that their family follows every single year to make their holiday season that much more special. Some people have very specific ways they decorate their trees, others love to sing carols, some write letters to Santa or watch a favorite movie and the list goes on and on from there. This year Hallmark is trying to help you add to your traditions with some fun toys based off of the new movie they have coming out called Northpole. On November 1st Walmart will be carrying an exclusive line of  toys from Northpole brought to you by Hallmark so you can add some new traditions this year.

It may be the end of October but like many other children Christmas is already on my kids’ minds. So when I received some the Once Upon a Northpole Christmas book, the Find Me, Santa Snowflake and the Northpole Communicator my group was excited. These will definitely fit nicely into our Christmas traditions and add a new one too.

Hallmark Northpole - Once Upon a Christmas book & Follow Me, Santa Snowflake #NorthPoleFun #CollectiveBias

Every year we spend an evening decorating the tree, waiting to turn the lights on until everything has been placed. We love adding new ornaments to our tree each year and the Find Me, Santa Snowflake is going to be a perfect addition this year. With a press of a button it lights up changing colors to let Santa know where you are. There is even a spot to write your name(s) on it so Santa knows just who he looking for.

Hallmark Northpole - Once Upon a Christmas book #NorthPoleFun #CollectiveBias

We follow-up our tree decorating with some Christmas stories and carols to really get everyone into the Christmas spirit. This year we will be adding the Once Upon a Northpole Christmas to the mix. My seven-year old has already been practicing reading it so he can do a good job when we decorate the tree.

Hallmark Northpole - Northpole Communicator #NorthPoleFun #CollectiveBias

This year we get to add an exciting new tradition that I have to tell you my kids are ridiculously excited about! We have a Northpole Communicator and starting December 1st we will get to talk to the Northpole. They can reach us and we can reach them as well. Each day leading up to Christmas this will happen and my daughter keeps checking in with the Northpole to see if it’s time. This one is going to be loads of fun for us and I just love anything that makes the kids giddy at Christmas!

Zoomer Zuppies Fun Robotic Dogs

by Jennifer Wieland
Zoomer Zuppies
This post was sponsored by Zoomer Zuppies and I was compensated to write it. Regardless, what I have written is my own opinion and experience, and I hope you find it of use.

My three youngest kids have been dying for a pet! It is a weekly debate here. There is begging and pleading and sometimes even crying and whining. It’s not that I am anti-pet but there are a couple reasons why a pet is just not going to happen. The first one is that I already have enough people that I have to clean up after constantly and just don’t need anymore work piled on me. Contrary to what my husband and kids promise I know from past experience when we did have a pet that I end up doing the work. The second problem is that I am allergic to cats which wouldn’t be bad because they really want a dog but my daughter happens to be allergic to dogs. They did offer a compromise and asked for a pig instead but I had to explain to my daughter that I didn’t want her sleeping with pork products. Then I found out about Zoomer Zuppies which are fun robotic dogs and I knew it would be my answer.

Zoomer Zuppies - Shadow

I headed over to my local Walmart to check out all of the different Zoomer Zuppies toys and pick the one that was perfect for my family. The dogs range in price from $29.99 – $99.99. I opted for one of the new Zoomer Zuppies, Shadow that does over 20 different tricks and has an additional set of secret tricks it can learn. He was the most expensive but he was also the most interactive with the most tricks so that made me think along the lines of a real dog. I was so excited! I couldn’t wait to get Shadow home and charged so the kids would be surprised when they got home from school.

Zoomer Zuppies

When the kids came home from school I showed them their new Zoomer Zuppies, Shadow and they thought he was cute but they didn’t seem super excited. I then explained to them that he was a robot dog and turned him on and handed them the training checklist card so that they could try some tricks with him. Once they understood to pet his head (lightly push down) so that you can give him a command, they were hooked! The one issue we had was that sometimes two of the kids would try to give him a command in their excitement and poor Shadow would get confused. Once I explained to them that they could only give one command at a time they got it. My 5 and 7 year olds already want to take him to school to show all of their friends and my 10 year old I often find quietly playing with him when the other two are not around. My daughter’s favorite command to give Shadow is follow me so he follows behind her and both of my boys think the go pee command is hilarious! (You can’t go wrong with potty humor and little boys.) The kids have also enjoyed learning more and playing at the Zoomerpup.com site.

Zoomer Zuppies

Zoomer Zuppies are great toys and give a young child the joy of a pet without all of the responsibility. These would be a great hit this holiday season for any little animal lovers or tech fanatics in your life.

Dorm Room Essentials for Incoming College Freshman by Kleenex at Walmart

by Jennifer Wieland
Dorm Room Essentials for Incoming Freshman by Kleenex at Walmart #KleenexStyle
Many thanks to Kleenex and Walmart for sponsoring today’s post and for keeping dorm rooms everywhere stylish.

My oldest is heading into his senior year in college and I am returning to college this year. This is a big year for us with all of the college happenings. Luckily though I am attending a local community college so no dorm for me. My son and his buddies are renting a house for the second year in a row and being seniors now they have carried most of their stuff with them from place to place and year to year. I do remember my son’s freshman year though and having the college send us a brochure for a bedding and room kit we could buy. It was way overpriced but did help give me a checklist. As the year went on though we added things and removed things and by sophomore year we knew what we were doing. So I’m going to share with all of you new college moms and dads what you should be getting and things you can skip or will want to check with the school about before shopping for basic dorm room essentials for incoming freshman.

Things to Know Before You Start Shopping for a Dorm Room:

  1. The dorms come with beds and they can be left as is or stacked for bunk beds so there is more room.
  2. Desks and desk chairs are pretty standard in most college dorm rooms. Check with the school to verify.
  3. If your child has a private bathroom it most likely already has a shower curtain and toilet paper.
  4. The room should be furnished with waste baskets for trash disposal.
  5. Many dorms do not allow you to have open heat source items for cooking due to fire hazards. So no hot plates, toaster ovens, pizza ovens, etc.

10 Dorm Room Essentials for Incoming College Freshman By Kleenex at Walmart:

Dorm Room Essentials for Incoming Freshman by Kleenex at Walmart #KleenexStyle

  1. The Mini Fridge: I would suggest splurging and getting one of the taller mini fridges that has an actual good-sized freezer. If your child is male or an athlete most school meal plans won’t be enough and they will need more food or if you have a picky eater this may be the only thing that helps them eat regularly by keeping frozen meals & pizzas stocked. (While they won’t let you cook usually in anything other than a microwave a lot of dorm buildings may have a central kitchen the kids can use.)
  2. A Futon: While there are beds and desk chairs in most dorm rooms those don’t really leave any place to sit and hangout with friends or watch a game or play some Xbox. Trust me this will be a big help and it also doubles as guest quarters so if they have a friend come visit from out-of-town there is a bed for them to use. (Many co-ed dorms will allow girlfriends/boyfriends or friends to sleep in your child’s room if it is okay with the roommate. If you decide to skip the futon another option is some folding chairs and tray tables that can easily be tucked away when not in use.)
  3. A TV: While it would be nice to believe that your child is going to head to college and go to class and do classwork from sunup to sundown that just won’t be the case. They will want to watch TV, movies and play video games during their downtime. (Many colleges even have movies in the dorms or libraries that the kids can checkout to watch and most rooms are wired for basic cable.)
  4. A Bedding, Towel, Laundry Kit: You can find these kids pretty much anyplace that sells college back to school supplies. They usually come packaged in a hamper. The hamper usually contains a sheet set, comforter, towel set & foam mattress topper.  Those are usually the basics but it can contain more items too. (You will want a mattress topper because the mattresses are not the best quality and they are reused from year to year so the topper helps make it more comfortable and just a little less gross.)
  5. A Laptop: This is just an absolute necessity in this day and age for college. Kids these days use their computers, tablets and phones for everything and how easy does it make school when you can record audio and video of a lecture or lab.
  6. A Keurig: Coffee, tea, hot cocoa, juices & vitamin drinks are all available now in k-cups. Some juice, a hot caffeinated drink and some vitamins are a great way to start the day and keep them healthy and awake in class. Plus the Keurig allows for people to easily have different tastes. (You can even get college decals for your Keurig from Walmart.)
  7. A Microwave Oven: This goes hand in hand with the fridge. Having some ability to make yourself a hot meal when you are hungry is always needed.
  8. A Small Set of Dishes, Cups & Silverware: Do not get anything breakable. They don’t need to be fancy and they will not have anyplace to store more than that. A few pieces allows them to be able to eat and drink in their rooms but can be easily hidden away in the closet or a drawer when not is use. Think easy clean items because many will be washing this stuff in bathroom sinks.
  9. Kleenex Expression Oval Face Tissue: These boxes are conveniently sized and shaped to be hidden throughout the dorm room in what little nooks and crannies are left after your kiddo gets settled. This is important because as all the kids move in and share the same recycled air people will get sick and it will spread. Make sure your kid is doing their part to stay healthy by having the Kleenex Expression Oval Face Tissue box handy to brighten their room and to hand out to any one with a cold or allergies that comes by to visit. (I like being able to add a functional pop of color with a fun pattern too.)
  10. A 2-in-1 Stick/Hand Vacuum: There are a bunch of different options for stick or hand vacs but only a few that have both. A stick vac will allow them to clean up the floors easily in their rooms, while the hand vac is perfect for cleaning up messes on their desks.

Dorm Room Essentials for Incoming Freshman by Kleenex at Walmart #KleenexStyle

Kleenex Expression Oval Facial Tissue is great to have on hand because not only is it functional but it also adds an artistic design element to what is often a boring, plain dorm room. It helps allow you to express your personality in a room that is neutral by design from floor to ceiling.

Dorm Room Essentials for Incoming Freshman by Kleenex at Walmart #KleenexStyle

I am loving this chevron pattern and the color choices. These are a fun alternative to the old lady looking boxes of tissue with roses and other flowers on them. They are just perfect for a young adults first place away from home.

Do you have any other ideas on fun and functional ways to add some personality to a dorm room?

I bet some of you didn’t know that Keurigs aren’t just for a nice hot cup of coffee in the morning anymore did you? I for one love my Keurig but use it for all sorts of different drinks than what you would normally think to use your Keurig and favorite K-Cups to make. So let me share with you what the best K-Cup flavors for making iced tea and juice slushies are and why these were perfect for me and my family this weekend.

A couple of weeks ago while out shopping I came across a metal swing set that had been marked down to only $60 which was a steal! As soon as I saw it I knew I needed to buy it for my 5, 7 and 10 year olds. They love going to the park and I take them a lot but there are some days where I just can’t take them because I need to get stuff done at the house or I need to work. I figured this would be a great way that they could still play and get some fresh air but I could stick close to home and do things here. Now, as I said this was a couple of weeks ago. The big, giant box was still sitting under my balcony just waiting to be opened up. I came home on Saturday from picking up a piece of furniture I bought and spotted the box and in that moment I knew I was not going to wait for any of the men folk here to get around to putting it together and I was not going to listen the little ones nag about when the assembly was going to happen. Nope, I was going to do this! I was all I am woman hear me roar in that moment!

The swing set that started it all.

So I quietly snuck out of the house while the hubs and the kids were preoccupied and toolbox in hand set about putting it together. It started out well enough, that is until I realized that I was going to need another set of hands to help me get the side legs attached but I was being bull-headed and decided to ask one of the kids to help. Needless to say that was the trigger that started what would become one of the longest most headache inducing days of my life!

All of the kids that were home came outside to see what was happening and all promptly decided they wanted to “help”. I should have stopped at that moment but I didn’t. Instead I forged on only to have my daughter come running through and knock down what we were trying to assemble and guess who stood under everything? Yup, that’s right. It was me. After some poor language choices, some ice and bandages the hubs came out and helped me get the legs on. I sent him back in though because I wanted to finish this alone. That didn’t happen though. The kids came out more and lost several screws and bolts necessitating a run to the hardware store. I did manage to get it done though.

When I was finished I was dirty, sweaty, more than likely smelly and I was hot and thirsty with a headache to boot. I decided I needed a cold drink and the kids wanted one too. I decided to make some Lemonberry Slushies for the kids and a Snapple Lemon Tea Slushie for me. They were perfect! Nice, cold and refreshing and so needed after all those hours of hard work.

I love my Keurig! I have what I refer to as the baby model but it serves its purpose and sadly I don’t have the room for a big one. Since I am not a coffee drinker I am always brewing the many varieties of Brew Over Ice K-Cups. You can get a ton of different iced teas, vitamin drinks and even juice. With all of those options your Keurig will become a very handy beverage tool to have in your arsenal.

Luckily for my family I had gone to Walmart earlier that morning and had purchased some Snapple Lemon Iced Tea and Green Mountain Naturals Lemonade K-Cups. With those on hand I was able to quickly and easily make some refreshing slushies for the whole family.

I set to work brewing some Snapple Lemon Iced Tea and Green Mountain Naturals Lemonade in preparation of making slushies.

If you have never used a Keurig for the Brew Over Ice K-Cups then I would recommend watching this “how-to” video to make the best possible drink you can. For best brewing though all Brew Over Ice products should be brewed at the 6 oz. (small) or 8 oz. (medium) settings.

Now on to making the two different slushies…

K-Cup Slushies #BrewOverIce #BrewItUp #shop #cbias

Note my haggard appearance and just general look of exhaustion.

I made all of the kids their slushies first and by the time I made mine and had a chance to sit down and take a break it was dark out but the slushie sure helped me to relax after a very long day of trying to be an awesome mom.
