Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and this year I decided to decorate some for it. I don’t usually put up any Valentine’s decorations at all. Honestly, the reason behind that is that I am usually a late Christmas decoration remover. What does that mean? It means that at the end of January I am usually, finally getting around to putting away the Christmas stuff. Since we have bitter cold here in Chicago though and more coming I decided to go ahead and get the old stuff down and get some Valentine’s decorations made and up.
I spent some time yesterday making an utterly adorable tulle heart wreath. It was very easy to make. My daughter kept oohing and aahing over it and has laid claim to it to hang on her bedroom door. I caved and told her she could have it to decorate her door with so I guess I actually need to make more Valentine’s Day decorations for the main rooms of the house now.
This project only needs a handful of items that can be easily found at any craft store and comes together quite easily.
To make the wreath you will need:
1 12″ styrofoam heart wreath
3-5 spools of 3″ wide tulle in the colors of your choice (I used 3 shades of pink)
1 decorative heart ornament (I used a pink glitter foam one)
decorative ribbon or chord
scissors
ruler
hot glue & glue gun
Select the colors of tulle that you want to use and then cut them into 10″ long pieces. Tie each piece onto the wreath leaving the knotted part on the outside. Be sure to keep the knots fairly even when working. You will want to slide the tulle together as you are working so that it appears that the pieces are overlapping. Attach your ribbon or chord in the desired length using hot glue to the back so you can hang the wreath. Attach the heart ornament from it’s string to the back using hot glue.

That is so cute! I love the stripped look from using the different colors. I really like how you gave it a little more by adding the heart in the middle.
