White Chocolate Passion Fruit Meltaways

by Jennifer Wieland

This year I was so excited to be able to be a participant in the 3rd Annual Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap. This is a charitable event that is organized by two amazing bloggers. They are Julie from The Little Kitchen and Lindsay from Love & Olive Oil. They started this as a way to bring food bloggers together across the world and raise money for a worthy cause. The charity this year was once again Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. They are a national non-profit organization committed to funding new therapies used in the fight against pediatric cancer, which claims the lives of more children in the US than any other disease.

There were food bloggers from eight countries that participated this year! Some great companies also partnered with the event to help match donations. Those companies were OXO, Dixie Crystals, Gold Medal & Grandma’s Molasses. Together we were able to raise a grand total of $13,778.40 which more than surpassed Julie and Lindsay’s goal of $10,000.

So how did this work? Each blogger registered and contributed a donation to the event and then each blogger was assigned three other bloggers. We then baked a new recipe to our blogs and mailed out a dozen cookies to each of the bloggers we were assigned. We in turn received a dozen cookies from the bloggers who had our names. It was great fun and the kids and I got excited with each package’s arrival to see what yummy treats we received.

All of us are posting our recipes on our blogs today. It’s quite exciting to get to see what everyone made. So who did I send to and who did I receive from? Here they are:

Bloggers I sent to:

Becky at So Very Blessed

Emily at Sweet Bella Roos

Melissa at The Baked Equation

Bloggers I received from:

Taylor at Greens & Chocolate  – Chewy Ginger Cookies

Yang at Fortune Goodies  – Matcha Green Tea Cookies with White Chocolate and Sesame Seeds

Teri at The Freshman Cook  – Frosted Gingerbread Cookies

All of the cookies I received were really good! I would definitely suggest heading to each of the sites and seeing some good pictures of the cookies and the recipes themselves. Taylor, Yang and Teri all did great in my opinion!

So what did I send to Becky, Emily & Melissa? I sent them some White Chocolate Passion Fruit Meltaways. I love these cookies and to my four-year old daughter they are like crack. The girl literally threw herself on the ground and cried when I ran out of them. These cookies are light and literally melt in your mouth when you eat them. They are a good flavor pairing as I have addressed my fixation of all things white chocolate and passion fruit previously on the blog. They make a good addition to your holiday cookie tray in that they are something people will not expect. The tropical flavor and white chocolate will be a unique taste surprise.

  1. 1 c. all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 c. corn starch
  3. 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
  4. 3/4 c. butter, cut into cubes
  5. 1 tbsp. passion fruit juice
  6. 1 c. white chocolate chips
  7. 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar for coating
  1. Combine the flour, corn starch and 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar in a bowl and set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment cream the butter and juice until smooth. Add the flour mixture and mix on low. Once it thickens scrape down the sides and then increase speed. Mix until it becomes dough-like and then stir in the chocolate.
  3. Refrigerate the dough for 45 minutes. When the dough is almost ready preheat the oven to 350° and line the baking sheets with parchment paper.
  4. Roll the dough into 1" balls and bake them for 10-12 minutes. Do not over bake them. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. Once cooled completely roll them in the remaining confectioner's sugar.
